The Timberwolves opened their 2012 Fall season with a win Saturday against conference rival Lone Star College Montgomery.
The game got off to a quick start when Tomball freshman Kenyan recruit Mark Kinyan tapped in a low cross from Derick LaBroda off a counter attack at the 3:30 mark. The Timberwolves would dominate the first half but would be unable to score and go into the half leading 1-0.
In the second half Montgomery started off strong with several attacks in the first 10 minutes after Tomball made several substitutions. Coach Grove made several changes 15 minutes in and the team started to reassert their dominance but were unable to finish.
Erick Diaz would score off another cross by LaBroda at the 72:32 mark which gave LaBroda his second assist of the game. Two minutes later Labroda would score off an assist by Jamaican freshman Nixon Lionixx. Sergio Sanchez would would finish off the game in the 89th minute when he was taken down on a break away by the Montgomery keeper and was picked to take his own penalty.
Coach Tim Grove was satisfied with the performance but said the team still has a long way to go in order to reach their potential. “Obviously any time you win it’s a good thing, I was happy we got a clean sheet and that everyone was able to get involved today, but we should have put the game out of reach much earlier”.
The Timberwolves are back in action against Lone Star College Kingwood on Saturday at 2pm.
